THE DRAFT ROOM AND LABATT BREW HOUSE TO OPEN NOVEMBER 17
New attractions at Labatt House will begin serving guests at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17
The Draft Room and the Labatt Brew House will both open to the public at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17 inside Labatt House, located at 79 Perry Street in downtown Buffalo.
The Draft Room, operated by PSE Hospitality, will serve as a communal establishment where beer and food are paired and shared creating an engaging and interactive hospitality experience. The Draft Room is a fast-casual brew pub where guests seat themselves and order at the bar. Open seating will accommodate 200 guests with a mix of bar seating, traditional booths and high tops, communal beer hall tables, a two-tiered shared bench, and additional seating for 100 in the 4,000-square foot seasonal outdoor beer garden. Guests can choose from more than 30 varieties of beer, select cocktails and two selections of wine on tap. The Draft Room’s menu will focus on sharable items such as fresh-baked pretzels, pizzas, smoked meats, salads and sandwiches, all delivered as they are prepared. Beer will be a featured ingredient in many menu items, and each will have a suggested beer pairing, determined by cicerone-certified staff. The Draft Room’s design tells the story of beer through production, packaging, shipping and delivery. Its walls are lined with historical murals including the end of Prohibition and explaining the Standard Reference Method (SRM), which correlates each different style code with the appropriate type of beer. An industrial feel with views of Labatt’s active brewery round out the unique space. You can visit The Draft Room online at thedraftroombuf.com.
“The Draft Room and Labatt House create another unique attraction that will draw new people to the Canalside and Cobblestone districts year-round,” said PSE Chief Operating Officer Bruce Popko. “Terry and Kim Pegula have made another lasting impact on downtown Buffalo with this privately-financed project that will greatly complement KeyBank Center, Harborcenter and the tremendous improvements we’ve seen at Canalside. Their commitment continues to help transform our city.”
Labatt USA will operate the Labatt Brew House, a 3,000 square-foot innovation brewery with a 400 square-foot tasting room. The innovation brewery consists of a 10-barrel, four-vessel brew house where the Labatt Brewmaster experiments with brewing a variety of new and emerging beer styles. The tasting room provides a front-row view to the entire brewing process, giving visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the innovation brewery. Beer drinkers have the opportunity to taste and share feedback on fresh, high quality beers, served straight from eight brite tanks. “The Labatt Brew House brings a new way of brewing beer to Labatt USA. For the first time, we have a destination where we develop beer alongside our most passionate consumers who give us valuable input and ultimately influence the styles and variety of beers we create,” said Brinn Johnson, director of retail strategy and business development, Labatt USA. “We’re grateful to bring our first U.S. brewery to Labatt USA’s hometown, thanks to our great partners at Pegula Sports and Entertainment and their commitment to not only the historic Cobblestone district but the entire city of Buffalo.”
Labatt House, located at 79 Perry Street, is a mixed-use renovation of a five-story 1919 building in downtown Buffalo’s Cobblestone District. It is also home to Labatt USA’s corporate headquarters (floor two) and will welcome Pegula Sports & Entertainment (floors three and four) in early 2019. Four high-end residential apartments will be located on the building’s fifth floor.
